Steve,

Thanks for sharing this inspiring story. Goes to show our own experience of reality is what we choose to make it. It also reminds me that no matter what situation we may be in, we can choose to see it in different ways, resulting in misery or happiness. Happiness has always been and will always be a choice, regardless of the circumstances. You have reminded me of this by sharing this story. Again, I thank you. Blessings to you and yours.

Truly a mindturning story ! It is so amazing I now read this story because this morning I was on my way on my bike and I met these two persons . I could see this big guy with an open selfconfidence smilingly leading this thin guy dressed in leather clothes probably to some criminal ward or something . When I had passed them I started to question my perceptions and realized it was the leatherman guiding a blind man !

This is an amazing story and it really shows how people can enhance happiness in others, despite their own suffering and sadness..if only many more people would think along these terms, the world would be a much better place :) .

I don’t know how many times I’ve read this but it gets lamer every time. What’s worse are the people who say “37 Seconds To Read: May Change Your View For A Lifetime “.

No, it won’t.

You are correct…it won’t ….for you.

This is one of my all time favorite posts that you have shared. Rereading it this morning I thought again how important it is to choose the world we wish to see and to live in regardless of the apparent illusion.
I believe “insight” is the ability to see from within that which we choose to experience. Artists paint from insight more often than not. They paint their own version of whatever they see and often bring a level of beauty that comes from within themselves. Why not use that insight to paint our world as the blind man did in the story above.
God Morning! Blessings to you and to all.
Sending back and unconditional love hug,
Alexandra

I first read this in the early 80′s, but it was actually part of a “Scary Stories to Read in the Dark” book of short stories. In the original(?) version, the bedmate without the window grows so jealous over time that he murders his roommate in order to gain the window view, only to find a blank wall.

I like this version much better. :)

Just when I had nothing else to live for. I can muster enough courage to go another day. Sad, but beautiful.

A wonderful story to start the day. Now I have had two reminders of how important it is to share happiness with others despite seemingly unwanted conditions. We create our own reality. How we translate our world affects everyone around us. What will you focus on today?

Thank you!
